The Indian Consulate, New York, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan USA and Vani Prakashan, New Delhi, hosted a book release event on June 20 at the Consulate, celebrating Indian cultural heritage and honoring Dr P Jayaraman, writer, scholar and former executive director of Bhavan USA.

Dr Jayaraman was felicitated for his new book, “The Alwars,” a brief history of Vaishnava saint-poets. Among the attendees were: TV Asia chairman and CEO Padma Shri H R Shah; Dnyaneshwar Mulay, Secretary MEA (Ministry of External Affairs and Overseas Indian Affairs); India’s Consul General in New York Sandeep Chakravorty; Dr Naveen Mehta, chairman, Bhavan USA; Chandrika Tandon, businesswoman, Grammy-nominated artist and philanthropist; Swami Yuktatmananda and many prominent members of the community.

The Indian Consulate, New York and TV Asia hosted a curtain raiser at the TV Asia auditorium in Edison, NJ, to mark the International Day of Yoga on June 21. More than 250 people, including several representatives of yoga schools and supporters, attended the event.

Among the attendees were: TV Asia chairman and CEO Padma Shree H R Shah; Padma Vibhushan Pandit Jasraj; Dnyaneshwar Mulay, Secretary MEA (Ministry of External Affairs and Overseas Indian Affairs); India’s Consul General in New York Sandeep Chakravorty; Dr Naveen Mehta, chairman, Bhavan USA and many prominent members of the community.

A brief demonstration of yoga postures initiated the audience into the benefits of yoga.

The Indian Consulates in the US have planned several events across the country to mark the International Day of Yoga on June 21.

TV Asia hosts meet and greet with cast and crew of International Gujarati Film Festival

TV Asia hosted a meet and greet gala banquet at its auditorium in Edison, NJ with the cast and crew of Vadilal International Gujarati Film Festival on June 14. In attendance were TV Asia chairman and CEO, Padma Shri H R Shah; Malhaar Thakar, Gujarati theater and movie actor; Monal Gajjar, movie actress and model and Gujarati filmmakers along with prominent members of the Gujarati American community. In its 2nd year, the International Gujarati Film Festival showcased its body of work in Edison, NJ as well as Los Angeles, CA from June 7 through June 16. Supported by TV Asia, the film festival was initiated by 1947 Production and Entertainment Inc and Rostrum Media.
